7 More Must-Have Prints for the Bambu A1 3D Printer
Hi everyone! After sharing Part One, I dove into a deep search for even more ideas and suggestions for fun upgrades to enhance my Bambu A1 3D printer. Thanks so much for all the comments on the last video! Your suggestions inspired me to put together this new list of must-have prints. Just like last time, I’ll include all the STL file links in the description below. Let’s dive right in!
As a quick reminder, always ensure you’re printing in a well-ventilated space. Like me, you might also want to grab an air purifier to keep things extra safe.
1. Top Cable Clips
One of the first issues I noticed was that the top cable on the printer would occasionally sag. This could interfere with the toolhead movement, which is less than ideal. I found several designs for cable clips, but one stood out as the best option. These clips are easy to print and ensure that your cables stay neatly out of the way.
2. X-Axis Linear Rail Dust Cover
While my A1 is rarely off long enough to gather dust, it’s still worth protecting the machine’s parts. This dust cover is designed to keep your X-axis linear rail clean, ensuring smoother operation and less maintenance in the long run.
3. Cleaning Tool for the A1 Series
This simple yet effective cleaning tool is a must-have for keeping your A1 in top condition. It’s designed to clean and lubricate the moving parts of the printer. The print itself was quick and came out great. I’ll be using this during my next maintenance session to keep things running smoothly.
4. PTFE Tube Removal Tool
If you’ve ever tried removing the PTFE tubes without a tool, you know how painful it can be. This tool is a game changer—it makes the process so much easier and saves your fingers in the process. Trust me, you’ll want to print this one before your next maintenance task.
5. Customized Extruder Gear
This one is probably my favorite mod. The stock extruder gear is functional but pretty plain. Why not spice it up? I printed a Flux Capacitor design that fits perfectly onto the shaft. To install it, just pop off the cover, swap out the gear, and reassemble. If you don’t have an AMS yet, you can add some personality by painting it with hobby paints. The result is a unique and colorful custom touch for your Bambu Lab A1. There’s also a biohazard design I’ve linked below—that’s next on my list to try!
6. A1/A1 Mini Hot End Sock Remover
This tool is incredibly handy for removing the faceplate cover and hot end sock with just one hand. To use it, simply slide the tool underneath and lift to remove the nozzle case. Then, use the included tweezers to pull the nozzle out completely. It’s a real time-saver, especially since you’ll likely find yourself changing nozzles more often than expected.
7. Filament Measurement Tool
Last but not least is this filament measurement tool. It’s a simple device that you place on your filament spool to get an approximate idea of how much material remains. For instance, I used it to check two spools: one had about 200 grams left, and another, which was nearly full, had 700 grams. This tool is a lifesaver for planning larger projects—you’ll know ahead of time whether you have enough filament to complete your print. No more wasted material from failed attempts!
That wraps up my list of seven more must-have prints for the Bambu A1 3D printer. I hope you find these upgrades as useful and fun as I have! Don’t forget to check out the STL links in the description, and let me know in the comments which upgrades you’re planning to try. Until next time, happy printing!
